Nirmala Sitharaman and Kiren Rijiju visit Arunachal Pradesh

The Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry (Independent Charge), Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, accompanied by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, held a meeting with the various Head of Departments (HoDs) in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh to review the developmental projects.

They later visited the Tawang Monastery, the largest of its kind in the country and one of the largest monasteries in Asia, and offered prayers. The two Union Ministers also paid tributes to the martyrs at the War Memorial, commemorating the supreme sacrifice of 2,420 soldiers who were martyred in the Khameng sector of Arunachal Pradesh during the 1962 India-China War.

Smt. Sitharaman and Shri Rijiju will attend the Raksha Bandhan programme at the Lumla Border Out-Post (BOP) in Tawang district tomorrow. Smt. Sitharaman will tie Rakhis to the troopers to mark the 70th Independence Day celebrations.
