Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment inaugurated the New Office Premises of National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in Okhla, Phase-1, New Delhi. Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ramdas Athawale and Shri Vijay Sampla and many dignitaries were present. Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot distributed self-employment toolkits, stipend support to Divyang Trainees and recognition shields to Divyang entrepreneurs trained by NHFDC in NCR on the occasion.

Addressing on the occasion, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot said that after shifting to new premise, NHFDC will certainly enhance its capabilities to perform it’s role effectively in future. It has provided financial assistance to needy Divyangjans throughout the country at subsidised rate of interest and has also provided Scholarships to many deserving Divyangjans.

NHFDC is registered under Section-25 of the Companies Act, 1956 has been operating it’s essential functions from Registered office in the rental premises at Faridabad since it’s inception 24th January, 1997. It  has set up its Corporate Office at PHD House, New Delhi (also in rented premise) New Delhi w.e.f.24.11.2014 and a Skill Training Centre at Ujjain (M.P.). It requires frequent interaction with concerned officials of the Ministry, Corporate Sectors, State Channelising agencies and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) etc., so, it has purchased an Office space having 11,161 Sq. ft. at Unit no.11 &12, DLF Prime Tower, Okhla Phase-I, New Delhi-110020 with support of Dept. of Empowerment of PwDs (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India.

NHFDC has provided financial assistance of Rs.802 Crores to 1,42,352 Divyangjans throughout the country at subsidised rate interest so far. Further, it has also provided Scholarship for the total amount of Rs.77.64 crore to 12,960 Divyangjans. So far, it has trained 47,475 Divyangjans and provided wage/self employment to 1900 Divyangjans. The Divyangjans are provided stipend of Rs.2,000/- per month during the skill training period before completion of training. At present, NHFDC runs its skill training centres at Faridabad, Haryana and Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
