Shri T P Rajesh IAS District Collector, Cuddalore participated as the Guest of Honour at the Concluding day of the Neyveli Book Fair-2017 yesterday (09.07.2017). In his address the Collector said that “ With the habit of reading good books, our thoughts and deeds get purified, thereby our life span would get enhanced.

NLCIL under its Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) has been organizing Book Fair at Neyveli every year for the overall development of the general public.This year the 20th edition of the Neyveli Book Fair’2017 was organized from 30.06.2017 to 09.07.2017. 134 Publishers participated in the fair and exhibited around 2 lakh books with 10,000 titles for the readers to choose from.Around 2 lakh visitors including 50 thousand students from various institutions of near by districts left their foot prints in the fair.

 Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) NLCIL participated as the Chief Guest  and said that  marking the day of Guru Poornima Celebrations, Books have to be given utmost important as they are the Gurus in leading us to a good life.NLCIL is a role model in its commitment  towards the CSR and has extended financial assistance of Rs.45 Lakh this year for the Neyveli Book Fair 2017.

Shri Rajesh in his address said it is a pride for the District of Cuddalore that Neyveli Book Fair is being organized every year at Neyveli.Knowledge about the Customs and Culture of various nations could be known through books instead of travelling.We also could assess our weakness, strength, fulfillment and shortfalls by reading books.Ultimately the reading habit can help us make decisions and bring in mental maturity.

Shri V.Thangapandian, Director(Power)NLCIL and the President of the Neyveli Book Fair’2017 presided over the Function. In his address, said that with reading comes acquiring immense knowledge in various subjects and topics that could draw many people towards us. The best companion during travel is a book and with regular reading habit our lives get enlightened.

Shri R.Vikraman,Director(HR) in his address said this book fair helps us to draw people away from the internet, social media and also a motivation and encouragement to the writers and publishers.NLCIL is also keen to revive the ancient folk songs plays and instruments through organizing a cultural every day throughout the ten days, he added.

e-SOUVENIR

Shri Rakesh Kumar, released the e-Souvenir of the Neyveli Book Fair-2017 and the first copy was received by Shri Rajesh. “Book Park”. Villupuram won the first prize for the best stall with the second and third places  going to Virudhachalam “Success Book Seller”and  Panruti  ‘Priya Puthaga Poonga”.   Shri R.Mohan, CGM (CSR, Education, Sports and Culture) welcomed the gathering and Shri E.Srinivasan, DGM/PR proposed vote of Thanks.
