Board to discuss protection of Mangar Bani in Haryana, inclusion of new areas in NCR, delineation of Natural Conservation Zones etc. The National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) will meet in New Delhi tomorrow i.e June 9, 2015 to discuss various issues relating to development of the National Capital Region. The 35th Meeting of the NCRPB will be chaired by the Minister of Urban Development Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu.
Chief Ministers of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh besides the Urban Development Ministers and Chief Secretaries of these States are among the Members of the National Capital Region Planning Board.

The 13-Point Agenda for the meeting includes issues related to protection of Mangar Bani green cover in Haryana, inclusion of additional areas in the National Capital Region, delineation of Natural Conservation Zones in the participating states, review of status of Regional Rapid Transport System(RRTS), preparation and finalization of Sub-Regional Plans by participating States, status of financing of projects by NCRPB etc.

NCRPB was constituted in 1985 by an Act of Parliament with the objectives of Preparation of a Plan for the development of the National Capital Region, Coordination and monitoring the implementation of the said Plan and Evolving harmonized policies for control of land uses and developing infrastructure in the Region so as to avoid any haphazard development in the Region.

Besides the National Capital Territory of Delhi, 11 districts of Haryana, 6 of Uttar Pradesh and Two districts of Rajasthan have been included in the National Capital Region accounting for a total area of 45,888 sq.kms. Of this, Haryana accounts for 20,105 sq.kms and UP, Rajasthan and Delhi account for 10,853 sq.kms, 13,447 sq.kms and 1.483 sq.kms respectively.

National Capital Region is a unique example of inter-state regional development planning for a region with NCT of Delhi as its core.

The concerted efforts of NCRPB, participating States and Central Ministries so far have resulted in Preparation of Regional Plans with 2001 and 2021 perspective, Preparation of Sub-Regional Plans by the concerned States, Development of industrial infrastructure in the Region, Improvement in basic urban infrastructure, Up-gradation of six National Highways converging at Delhi, Widening and improvement of road networks besides addressing issues related to migration into and out of Delhi.
