Madhya Pradesh Govt NewsState Government’s decision on International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples   

On the occasion of International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, the State Government has taken a decision to conduct Financial Inclusion and Literacy Campaign for the scheduled tribe category of the state. The campaign will be conducted from August 16 to September 15 in the total 89 blocks of tribal dominant districts Chhindwara, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Badwani, Khargone, Dhar, Mandla, Seoni, Balaghat, Dindori, Hoshangabad, Betul, Ratlam, Shahdol, Anuppur, Sidhi, Umaria and Sheopur. Gram Panchayat wise 30 programmes on financial literacy will be held at each block.

Under the campaign, detail information on financial literacy and as regard to opening of new Jan-Dhan account, overdraft facility in Jan Dhan account, Aadhaar seeding and certification and Rupay card will be given to the tribals. Text material related to frequently asked questions on financial literacy and to satisfy their curiosities has been made available to the districts. The NABARD will also render its cooperation in the campaign being conducted by the State Government.

Detailed directives have been issued by the Finance Department in this regard. A team comprising 3 members including Panchayat Coordinator, Rural Agriculture Expansion Officer and Bank Mitra will be formed to conduct the campaign. Secretaries of Gram Panchayats and Rozgar Sahayaks will also participate in the programmes of Gram Pancahyats. In order to give benefit of the available overdraft facility to the holders of Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan accounts, necessary forms will be filled. Beneficiaries, who are active in these accounts since last 6 months will get overdraft facility of maximum Rs. 10 thousand with their consent. Information as regard to the interest rate on overdraft and to maintain transactions in their accounts will be given to the beneficiaries. Instructions have been given for cent percent coverage of village wise beneficiaries.

Under the campaign, work to fill their consent form for aadhaar seeding and E-KYC will be done of those beneficiaries, who already have accounts but their Aadhaar is not certified. Moreover, activities will also be organised to issue Rupay card and its activation in the accounts, in which the cards have not been issued and to apprise beneficiaries of its benefits. Information as regard to keep Rupay Card active will also be given during the campaign.

The Chief Executive Officers of the District Panchayats will be the Nodal Officers of the campaign at District level. Programmes will be coordinated by the District Collectors. Leading Bank Managers and Officers of the Tribal Welfare Department will render their cooperation as Assistant Nodal Officers of the campaign. The Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats will be Nodal Officers of the campaign at block level.
