Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO), an R&D wing of Ministry of Defence, is primarily involved in design and development of complex and security systems in the fields of missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, radars, electronic warfare systems, sonars combat vehicles, combat aircraft, sensors, etc. for the Armed Forces as per their specific Qualitative Requirements.
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has informed that The allocation details since 2014-15 for Department of Defence Research & Development [DD(R&D)], which includes Laboratories/establishments like Electronics & Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), is as under:-

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is a public undertaking for which no separate R&D funding is provided by the Government.
National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL) is not a Defence organisation but under the control of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
The value of Products/Systems/Technologies Developed/Upgraded by DRDO and inducted stands Rs.2.73 Lakh Cr.
DRDO is committed towards developing cutting edge technologies and systems for the Indian Armed Forces through R&D in all technology domains.
