NLC India Limited and Tamil Nadu Mines Safety Association, Neyveli Zone organized zonal level celebration of Mines Safety Week 2016, The valedictory function of the Week long celebrations was held on 21.08.2016 at Lignite Hall, Neyveli.

Shri. Shyam Mishra, Dy. Director of Mines Safety, Chennai Region, participated as the Chief Guest and in his address, he lauded the performance of NLC India Mines and the work force is a dedicated one with commitment to develop this organization. He informed the gathering that, rather than enforcement of law and regulations each individual’s attitude and attention, i.e. behavioral attitude towards Safety in work place is very important. The cell phone menace has increased the number of accidents and people succumbed to injuries when they use mobile phones at work spot.

Shri. S.A Fateh Khalid, ED/Mines NLC India ,  the president of the function, in his address informed that most of the accidents are caused only due to human failures though a full-fledged safety management system is in existence.  The company practicing Integrated Risk Management System approach and consistently making efforts to implement Prof. R. M.Bhattacharya, IIT, Dhanbad recommendations for safety in Mines.

Safety Week -2016 is being observed by NLC India Ltd., at Neyveli from 08/08/2016 to 21/08/2016. Various units of NLC put up stalls showcasing the safety models to be adopted while at work and innovative steps to improve the safety management systems at GVTC.

Senior officials, Shri V.Renganathan, Shri, Arvind Kumar, Shri Hemanth Kumar Shri.M Rajasekaran, Shri Mohan Reddy, Shri Senthil Kumar and Shri  Sukumar  and Shri  Srinivasan, representatives of recognized unions of NLC India,  CITU, LPF spoke on the occasion .

Various competitions were held on the topic “safety” and the winners were awarded with prizes. Also,based on the recommendation of the safety inspection team for adoption of innovative system in Mine II, Conveyor and Electrical Mines Division awarded for its new Innovation. Also,   for creating health awareness General Hospital of NLC India recognized with a special Award.

Earlier, Shri V.Renganathan, Executive Director (Mines), NLC welcomed the gathering Shri P. Ramasamy, Secretary, the Tamil Nadu Mines Safety Association briefed the various activities of the association and Shri. Arvind Kumar, CGM, Mine-I A  rendered the vote of thanks.
