Mansukh Mandaviya visits Ahmedabad

Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, MoS for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping, Chemical & Fertilisers visited the toll plaza on Ahmedabad – Vadodara Expressway today to monitor the toll collection operations after resumption of the same from the midnight of 2nd December. Shri Mandaviya talked with people and asked whether they were facing any inconvenience. The Minister said that the response from people was very positive. He said people are very happy that toll can now be paid digitally.

Briefing media persons, Shri Mandaviya reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways towards ensuring smooth movement of traffic on national highways. In order to facilitate the same, adequate number of cash swiping machines have been made available at all toll plazas. Toll fees are also being accepted through E-wallets. About 352 toll plazas have FASTag facility with dedicated lanes. From 2nd December midnight to 15th December midnight, old 500 rupee note are being accepted at toll plazas if the toll fess is more than Rs. 200 and for purchase of FASTags.

Observing that people are now going for cashless transactions and are using digital currency, Shri Mandaviya also added that in the coming days the government will come up with more digital and user friendly technology to make traffic flow and toll collection smoother on National Highways.
