The London School of Economics and Political Science (commonly referred to as the London School of Economics or LSE) is a public research university located in London. Founded in 1895 by Fabian Society members Sidney Webb, Beatrice Webb, Graham Wallas and George Bernard Shaw for the betterment of society, LSE joined the University of London in 1900 and first issued degrees to its students in 1902. Despite its name, LSE conducts teaching and research across a range of legal studies and social sciences in 26 academic departments or institutes including mathematics, statistics, law, media, human geography, public affairs and international history.

LSE’s ties with India started almost at inception when the school was founded with former director Ralf Dahrendorf referring to the association between India and LSE as a story of soul mates. LSE enrols between 300 and 400 Indians each year, with the majority in postgraduate programmes.

A number of students also go from Bangalore, and the LSE Alumni Association Bangalore assists in advising and guiding the students on their journey.

This is part of a pre departure programme that is conducted in over 30 countries worldwide. The Pre-Departure program  helps the students understand and prepare for the challenges that they might face.

“The London School of Economics is the most prestigious institution worldwide for finance and economics. For other fields as well, it is a leading place of study and research,” says Karnvir Singh Mundrey, Chapter Leader LSE Alumni Bangalore. “It is an opportunity of a lifetime and the alumni in India and in over 80 countries create a network forever.”

The Chief Guest for the event will by the British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Dominic McAllister.
