Launching of National Council for Teacher Education’s (NCTE) New & Revamped Website

Smt. Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development launched the new and revamped website of NCTE at New Delhi in the presence of Shri S. N. Mohanty, Secretary, Higher Education, Ms Vrinda Sarup, Secretary, School Education & Literacy, Prof. Santosh Panda, Chairperson, NCTE and Shri Jaan-E-Alam, Joint Secretary, MHRD. The launch of revamped website of NCTE will be another step towards achieving transparency in the governance which is the focus of the new government.

Any regulator for professional education and training needs to be transparent, be responsive to public grievances, provide instant required information, and should put in place a dynamic system for instant use, networking and course correction. That’s precisely what the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has done. NCTE is a statutory organization created through an Act of Parliament, with a mandate to achieve planned and coordinated development of teacher education in the country.

The website in new avataar will be fully dynamic and responsive. It will have the following online features:

i. Application for teacher education programmes

ii. Appeal processes

iii. Redressal of public grievances

iv. Filing of RTI applications

v. Mapping of the teacher education institutions through GIS

vi. Dynamic database of teacher education programmes and faculty database.

In addition, the website is user friendly and responsive which can be seen on any device including mobile phones. The applicant(s) can file online complaint, RTI application and will be immediately sent SMS acknowledgment on his / her mobile number as well as through his / her e-mail address. The website is rich in content, which contains rules, regulations, norms and standards, frequently asked questions, information for ongoing activities, teacher education curriculum, publications, video galleries etc. The Minister congratulated NCTE for this transparency and progressive step.
