Ms. K Ratnaprabha IAS (Karnataka 1981) presently posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, will be appointed as Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka.

Ms. K Ratnaprabha is a 1981 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre. She presently joined as an Additional Secretary and Mission Director of National Mission for Empowerment of Women under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
She got through at the civil services examination in the very first attempt in 1981 and was allotted to Karnataka. After working for almost 15 years in Karnataka, she joined as a Development Commissioner of Vizag Export Processing Zone in 1995 and served till 2004. She has laid the foundation of the zone and responsible for the increase of exports from 0.5lakh to 350 crores exports.

Smt. Ratna Prabha served in various departments, including revenue. On an inter- state deputation in
Andhra Pradesh during 2007-2009 she was made the Principal Secretary of the state Information Technology and Communications Department and during this time, she performed many duties like setting policy for Information and Technology and Communications from 2005 to 2012, taking IT to tier two cities and socio-economic development of state and providing employment to rural educated youth by starting an unique programme called Jawahar Knowledge Centre(JKC). She also served as a Regional Commissioner, Gulbarga division, Gulbarga, Principal Secretary to Govt., Transport Roads & Buildings (Transport), Principal Secretary to Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Revenue Department and Principal Secretary to Govt., Public Enterprises Department (Andhra Pradesh), Officer on Special Duty, AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) Ltd., Government of Andhra Pradesh, Collector & District Magistrate, Bidar & Raichur, Regional Officer, Central Board of Film Certification , Hyderabad. As a Programme Officer for PRADHAN, she organized self help groups of women through Horticulture at Nalgonda in 1995.
Smt. K.Ratnaprabha has received several awards for her excellent administrative services. As a Regional Officer, Central Board of Film Certification, she was instrumental in shifting the censoring of films to Hyderabad from Chennai and seized record number of films for the first time in the country for interpolation  and violations. She was also the first lady District Collector in Raichur and during her tenure, for the first time in the history of Karnataka; Devdasis were identified and distributed irrigated land for rehabilitation for which she was recognized by Government of Karnataka. She was the first lady IAS officer to be posted as District Collector at Bidar, Karnataka and during this time, she took the literacy percentage from 3% to 80% under the literacy programme. She was recognized by NLM for her contribution in Raichur and Bidar by conferring the status of an expert and was sent to China in recognition of good work in the field of literacy.
She implemented the pioneer project of Development of Women and Child in Rural Area successfully in Chikmaglur, Karnataka as Project Director. She also received Vishweshwaraiah Memorial Trust Award in 1996-97 for service to the state. She was the recipient of ‘Ugadi Puraskaram’ 2001 from ‘Vedic Seva
Trust’, Vishakhapatnam for the service rendered for the industrial development of Vishakhapatnam. She was also the recipient of ‘Partners in Progress Award’ by Hyderabad Software Exporters Association in 2001. The literacy programme was successfully implemented covering minority women. She has also written many articles on women issues in various leading newspapers. She has received Woman of the year 1999 and 2000 award by American Biographical Institute, Inc, USA. Smt. K.Ratnaprabha has total 31 Years of varied experience as a Civil Servant to provide better living standards to the citizen of the society and transparent public administration.
Smt.K. Ratnaprabha was born in a family of IAS officers and doctors. Her father was an IAS officer and mother is a doctor. Her eldest brother is a noted plastic surgeon while second brother, Pradeep Chandra (Prof. Emirates), is again an IAS officer. Sports were part and parcel of life in their house. Her parents encouraged sports and both her brothers and she excelled in games. She represented the State and played nationals in table-tennis. She has completed her graduation in Physics, Chemistry. She has done her PG in Sociology as well as PG in English and Public Administration.f Secretary, Government of Karnataka, will be appointed as Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka.

  1. BDA flat got allotted to me during Dec’2015 (Project-BDA apartment, Gunjuru-Bengaluru) saying flats will be handed over to allottees within one year period. Also received a letter from BDA during Dec’15 saying work is completed and pay the balance if any and get it registered.
    Till date work is not completed and BDA not in a position to give the commitment on handing over the possession of flats to it’s owner and present situation is horrible. I am paying rent as well as emi to bank for loan taken and financially burdened because of this delay or negligence by BDA.
    It’s my humble request advise the concerned take up the matter further and helps the suffering people about 1000+ families like me.
