Indian Railways Team Won Senior National Powerlifting Championship

Indian Railways team won Senior National Powerlifting Championship at Tata Nagar (Jamshedpur) from 7th September – 11th September 2016. Indian Railways team won both Men & Women Championship as well as overall Championship.

Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu has congratulated Indian Railways Power lifting Teams for their achievements. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Communication and Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Sinha and Minister of State for Railways Shri Rajen Gohain have also commended their achievements.

In Mens Championship Indian Railways participated in 8 weight categories out of which Indian Railways won 8 medals (5 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze). The medalists were Shri P Suresh (59 kg Category), Shri Pardeep (66 kg Category), Shri Paramasivam (74 kg Category), Shri Gurvinder Singh (83 kg Category), Shri Govindaraj (93 kg Category), Shri Balinder Singh (105 kg Category), Shri Angrej Singh (120 kg Category), Shri Amanpreeth (120+ kg Category). Shri P Suresh and Shri Amanpreeth were declared strong men of the Championship.

In women championship Indian Railways participated in 7 weight categories out of which 7 Gold medals were won. The Gold medalists were Ms Najuka Tatu Ghare (47 kg Category), Ms Ramalakshmi (52 kg Category), Ms Sarita (57 kg Category), Ms Ashwini (63 kg Category), Ms Manu Devi (72 kg Category), Ms Preeti (84 kg Category), Ms Aparna A Ghate (84+kg Category). Ms Ramalakshmi, Ms Ashwini Ashok Jadhav and Ms Najuka were declared the strong women of the Championship.
