India today test launched its indigenously developed intercontinental surface-to-surface nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni-5 from the Wheeler Island off Odisha coast.
the missile is capable of striking a target more than 5,000 kilometre with nuclear warhead carrying capacity of more than one tonne.
While the first test of Agni was conducted in April 2012, the third and last test of the missile with striking capacity of more than 3500 km range was carried out from the Wheeler Island in January 2015. Defence sources said after some few more trials, Agni-5 will be inducted into the Services.
