In order to ensure that the Jute Industry and the jute workers are not adversely affected due to the demonetisation initiative, the Office of Jute commissioner, in association with National Jute Board and Indian Jute Mills Association has made all out efforts to open bank accounts and promote Digital Payments. So far, more than 90% of the workers engaged in Jute Industry have been covered under bank accounts for facilitation of online transfer of their dues. This has enabled the Jute Mills to pay the workers their statutory dues through the online transfer mode. A mission-mode campaign has been launched to promote digital payments.
