Hotline with any foreign country is set up as part of Confidence Building Measures.

The details of the countries with which Hotlines have been established are as under:

(i) Between Military Headquarters of India and Pakistan since 4.2.1987.

(ii) Between India and China at Border Personnel Meeting / Flag Meeting locations of Spanggur, Natu La & Kibithu.

(iii) Between Border Guarding Forces of India and Myanmar at three places as per Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Border Cooperation signed on 8.5.2014.

(iv) Between Military Headquarters of Nepal and India since October, 2015.

In addition to above, ‘in principle’ approval has been given for establishment of a Hotline between Military Headquarters of India and China.
