Hemant Kumar has been appointed as new Member Mechanical, Railway Board & Ex-officio Secretary to the Govt. of India. Prior to this appointment, he was working as General Manager, Western Railway since, 20th November, 2013 and under his dynamic leadership Western Railway attained excellent achievements in various fields.
Kumar is a senior railway officer of 1973 batch of Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) and secured Gold Medal in Mechanical Engineering. He is also a qualified Electrical Engineer.
He has rich and varied experience of working on several key posts in the Ministry of Railways, Eastern Railway and Integral Coach Factory (ICF) etc. Prior to his posting as General Manager, Western Railway Shri Kumar has been working on the post of Additional Member (Mechanical Engineering) in Railway Board, New Delhi. He is a prolific writer with avid interest in blogging. His first Hindi poetry book under the title ‘Kah Dhakad Kaviray’ is published recently, which has been widely appreciated by eminent poets, critics and readers.
