Hon`ble Union Minister of State (I/C) for Civil Aviation, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri today dedicated the Delhi Air Traffic Services (DATS) Complex of Airports Authority of India to the Nation in the presence of Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, MoCA. Shri Arun Kumar, DG, DGCA, Shri Anuj Agrawal, Chairman AAI, Shri GBS Raju, Chairman-Airports (GMR), Shri A K Pathak, Member (Planning), AAI and Shri Vineet Gulati, Member (ANS) AAI were also present on this occasion.

While addressing the gathering on this occasion, Hon`ble Minister expressed pleasure after seeing the new-age facility. “With a phenomenal growth, the Civil Aviation Sector is driving economic growth of the country,” he said.

Prior to this, while giving the welcome address, Shri Anuj Aggarwal, Chairman, AAI said “With the new ATC Tower, AAI aims to improve the operational efficiency of IGI Airport. The state-of-the-art automation systems will ensure reliable & efficient air navigation services,”

The new complex comprises of three buildings namely Aerodrome Control Tower, Area & Approach Control Services Building and the Administrative Block constructed at the cost of approximately Rs. 250 Crores and Rs. 100 Crores for equipment. Most Modern Air Navigation Systems and Advanced ATC Automation System have been installed to enhance safety and capacity of Air Traffic operations.

ATC Tower at DATS is the tallest Air Traffic Control tower (102 meters high) in India and one among the tallest in the world. New Control Tower gives panoramic view of large operational area including the runways, taxiways and parking stands for real time awareness of aircraft movements to Air Traffic Controllers.

On this occasion, Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation complimented AAI’s consistent efforts towards ensuring safe air navigation operations. He also appreciated the work of ATCOs and highlighted the significance of the role they play in ensuring safe, secure and expeditious air transportation.

New Air Navigation Services Set-up, with upgraded equipment and systems, is designed to enhance the safety and the efficiency of Air Traffic Management Services at the Delhi`s IGI Airport. The Control Tower has additional 21 Controller Positions at level 26 and 12 Ground Controller Positions at level 25. These positions enable the New ATC Tower, future ready for the big expansion planned at IGI Airport, which includes Fourth Runway and many new Parking Stands/ Taxiways, which will enable additional capacity and slots for the airline industry.

With the new ATC Complex in place, the Airports Authority of India aims to improve operational efficiency of Delhi’s IGI Airport. The world- class infrastructure will also be a visual delight in the landscape of the capital of the country
