An Alumni of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and a fellow of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London, Capt. Anoop Kumar Sharma has been appointed as the CMD for Shipping Corporation of India.
Capt. Sharma has been associated with Essar Group since 2008 as CEO – Shipping Business and member of the Governing council of Narottam Morarjee Institute of Maritime studies along the Service’s Export Promotion Council. He has been associated with ESL since August 2008 as the CEO and has been driving the company successfully in achieving its business goals.
He began his merchant navy career in 1979 after passing out from T.S. Rajendra. After obtaining his command and a successful sailing career, Capt. Sharma shifted to an onshore role with Shipping Corporation of India and went on to become Senior VP – Chartering where he formulated and implemented a comprehensive strategy to explore global business opportunities for various type of vessels i.e. tankers, bulk carriers and containers.
Capt. Anoop Sharma is a Master (F.G.) – Certificate of Competency issued by D.G. Shipping, India. He also holds a Diploma in Marketing Management from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and is a fellow of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London.
He was previously associated with Shipping Corporation of India for 16 years where he was the Sr. Vice President of the Chartering division responsible for exploring global business opportunities for bulk carriers, tankers, containers and other vessels and developing new businesses.
SCI was presently under the guidance of Shri B B Sinha ,Director P & A who was also the CMD as additional charge.
