FTII Society and Governing Council holds first meeting

The first meeting of the newly appointed FTII Society and the Governing Council was held in the Institute premises in Pune. Members of the FTII Society including the President Shri Gajendra Chauhan, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor Dr Subhash Sharma, eminent Film maker Shri Rajkumar Hirani, Producer-Director Shri B. P. Singh, prominent Film and Television actorsShri Satish Shah and Shri Rahul Solapurkar, Joint Secretary (Films) Shri Sanjay Murthy attended the meeting. Ms Anagha Ghaisas, Shri Narendra Pathak, Film critic Ms Bhawana Somaiyya, Akademi Awardee Director Shri Urmil Thapliyal, Assamese Film actor Shri Pranjal Saikia and others were present at the meeting. Among the ex-officio members DG Films Division Shri Mukesh Sharma, Director FTII Shri Prashant Pathrabe, OSD Ministry of I & B Shri Chaitanya Prasad, CEO, Children’s Films Society Shri Shravan Kumar, Director SRFTII Shri Sanjay Pattnayak were present at the meeting.

Shri B.P Singh was elected as the Vice President of the FTII Society. The Society also decided to nominate acclaimed Film Maker best known for the films like 3 Idiots , Munnabhai MBBS, Shri Rajkumar Hirani, Producer-Director Shri B. P. Singh, celebrated film and television Actor known for his film Jaane Bhi do Yaaron and television series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Shri Satish Shah, Shri Pranjal Saikia, Shri Narendra Pathak and noted Film journalist and critic Ms Bhawana Somaiyya to the Governing Council.

Producer-Director Shri B. P. Singh was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Governing Council. It was also decided to nominate the Vice Chairman of the Governing Council as the Chairman of the Academic Council. An alumnus of FTII, Shri Brijendra Pal Singh is well known for the Indian television serial ‘CID’.

The Governing Council also approved the Annual Report and Statement of Accounts of the Institute for 2013-14 & 2014-15. The Revised Estimates for 2015-2016 and Budget Estimates for 2016-17 were also sanctioned at the meeting.

Earlier, new Chairperson Shri Gajendra Chauhan arrived at the Institute premises for his first visit to the premier institution and was accorded a warm reception by the Staff, Administration and Faculty members. Speaking to the Staff members Shri Chauhan said he would do his best to solve the problems of the institution including the longstanding demand of pension for the staff.
