Shri Rajiv Bansal IAS (Nagaland 1988) presently Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser at Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director, Air India.

Mr. Rajiv Bansal, IAS serves as Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser at Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. Mr. Bansal served in Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) where he was looking after Digital Payments, IT Act, Aadhaar and Internet Governance. During his career spanning almost 30 years, Mr. Bansal has worked as Secretary, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), Joint Secretary, Department of Heavy Industries, Government of India and Director, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. He has been Government Nominee Director at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited since August 10, 2017. He served as Part Time Official Director at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited from July 14, 2009 to March 15, 2011; Director of HMT Limited from August 03, 2009 to January 11, 2010; Andrew Yule & Company Limited from June 26, 2008 to January 08, 2010; Air India Limited until September 18, 2007; and HMT Machine Tools Limited since August 03, 2009. He has earlier been on the Board NACIL, Alliance Air and GITA. He has also held important assignments in the State Government. He is a Civil Engineer by profession having graduated from IIT, Delhi in 1986 and has a Diploma in Finance from ICFAI, Hyderabad and an Executive Masters in International Business from IIFT, New Delhi.
