Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, reviewed the preparations for the upcoming PETROTECH-2016, 12th International Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition at the Core Group meeting held in New Delhi today.

PETROTECH-2016 is India’s flagship biennial hydrocarbons event, being organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas during Dec. 5-7, 2016.

As the prime showcase of India’s hydrocarbon sector, the three-day mega event will see participation of over 100 eminent speakers and 6,000 delegates from 68 countries, including technologists, scientists, planners and policy-makers, management experts, entrepreneurs, service-providers and vendors. Along with the Conference being held at Vigyan Bhawan, the event will have a concurrent Exhibition spread over 15,000 square metres at Pragati Maidan.

Addressing the Core Group members, Shri Pradhan said that PETROTECH-2016 will not just be an oil & gas sector event but an ‘energy conclave’ that will focus on fruitful outcomes in upstream, midstream and downstream segments as well as in related areas of  petrochemicals, alternative & renewable energy, engineering & technology, energy conservation & efficiency, with emphasis on gainful employment for the youth.

Welcoming innovative ideas and suggestions to make PETROTECH-2016 an outcome-centric, enriching experience for all participants, Shri Pradhan urged the members from the Petroleum Ministry, other Ministries, leading public & private sector enterprises, and academicians to work together to showcase at the event the many mega initiatives launched by the Government of India to make energy available, accessible and affordable to the common man, especially to families below the poverty line.

Shri Pradhan hoped that the conference would serve as an effective platform for national and international experts from the oil & gas industry to exchange views, share knowledge, expertise and experience across various segments. He expressed happiness that 49 ministerial delegations have been invited to participate in the Conference, as part of India’s growing engagement in the energy domain with countries from Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Europe and the USA.

The Conference will host two ministerial sessions and a Ministers’ Conclave with participation from overseas ministerial delegations, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers. Besides three Plenary Sessions and five Theme Sessions addressed by eminent experts, special round-table discussions of BRICS and CELAC countries have been planned as part of the Conference. A joint meeting of the Ministerial Gas Forum of the International Energy Forum (IEF) and International Gas Union (IGU) is also being planned on the second day of the event with the theme “Gas for Growth.”

Apart from these, the Conference will host a CEOs Conclave, an exclusive pre-event programme on Women in the Hydrocarbon Industry, and a Yuva Urja Forum for students from reputed institutions. The Technical Programme, which will run parallel, will see presentation of papers by over 300 speakers in both oral and poster sessions on petroleum technology, exploration, drilling, production and processing, refining and other related issues.
