DGR Job Fair – A Distinctive Opportunity for Ex- Servicemen

The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) , Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (ESW), Ministry of Defence (MoD) will organise its first institutionalized Job Fair on 06th & 7th May 2015 at NCC Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) have partnered for the event which is being conducted under the aegis of HQ Western Command. Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) , Rajya Sainik Boards (RSBs) of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and UP, placement agencies of all the three services and Ex–Servicemen (ESM) Leagues have actively contributed to ensure the DGR Job Fair is of qualitative value and resultant satisfaction for the aspirant ESM. Constant and deliberate efforts have been made to inform the ESM about this job fair and simultaneously invite and attract maximum corporate employers though newspaper advertisements, social media and in house circulars through CII.

For this, DGR has especially designed a job portal for online registration of ESM/retiring servicemen as well as the prospective employers. All available trades in the Services and its equivalent in civil have been incorporated to enable smooth online matching of ESM skill sets and its corresponding job description vacancies posted by the recruiters. The DGR Job Portal has already registered 1321 job seekers including officers and 72 employers offering approximately 2500 job vacancies with corporate houses like Tata Son, Amazon, Zen Technologies, JSW and ICICI participating in the job fair. On-spot registration will be available for ESM who have not been able to register online for job fair including an opportunity of being counselled and CV preparation by professionals during the job fair. The corporate entities participating in the job fair will be provided facilities for spot trials / tests, aptitude tests if required and cabins for personal interview.

The NSDC being a partner for this job fair will undertake counselling and mentoring of job aspirants through their skill councils. The respective skill councils will also be carrying out Recognition of Prior Learning Test (RPL) and provide assured jobs to successful candidates. Those ESM not qualifying will be briefed about their skill gaps guided regarding the required skill training after which assured jobs can be provided to them.

Additional activities being planned during the job fair include branding of various entrepreneur schemes by corporate including Tata Motors, Magic Sewa, RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, Broadband Services and Amazon. HR heads of the corporate will be briefed on the competencies of the ESM including interaction.

It is expected that this inimitable endeavour by DGR will definitely provide adequate opportunity to ESM of a secure transition to second career in the corporate world.
