Shri Prabhakar Singh presently Director General, Central Public Works Department has been chosen for the ‘Eminent Engineer Award for the Year 2019’ by the Institution of Engineers (India) for his distinguished and exemplary Service in the field of Engineering and Technology.

This Elite and Prestigious Award shall be conferred to him on the ‘Engineers Day’ on September 15, 2019 in New Delhi. Shri Prabhakar Singh, an IIT Graduate and MBA from one of the Premier Business Institute of the Country. His enormous contributions and dedicated Service to the Nation as an Eminent Technocrat has been instrumental in transforming the Premier Engineering Organisation of the Central Government – CPWD.

Shri Prabhakar Singh is B.Tech with Honours in Mechanical Engineering from I.I.T.Kharagpur (1974-79). He is a post graduate MBA from MDI Gurgaon. He has worked in the R&D of Indian Telephone Industries at Bangalore and Naini, Allahabad from 1979 to 1982. He joined CPWD as Assistant Executive Engineer (E) on 07.04.1982. He has also done Special Post Graduate Diploma in “Environmental Management of Human Settlements” (from Institute of Human Settlement, Rotterdam, Netherlands & HSMI), International Training on “Shelter & Low Cost Housing in Urban Area” in Bangkok, Thailand. He served on deputation as Director of Estate in MoUD. He also served as OSD to Minister of Labour and OSD to Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment. He has vast experience of maintenance & construction work in VVIP/VIP areas.
