Central Railway gears up for Kumbh Mela

As always, rising to the occasion, Indian Railways has made elaborate and varied arrangements and undertaken several measures to provide adequate railway facilities for several lakhs of pilgrims who are expected to visit the Sinhanstha Kumbh Mela – 2015 which began at Nasik and the adjacent town Trambakeshwar in Maharashtra from 14th July 2015 and will continue upto September 2015.  Zonal Railways especially the Central Railway (Headquarters); Mumbai have geared up their respective machineries in a big way to ensure adequate railway facilities and comfort for the huge travelling public in connection with the Kumbh Mela.

Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu along with the CM Maharashtra had reviewed the arrangements with the Railway Board and the Central Railway and given appropriate instructions and directions for ensuring best possible facilities to the railway passengers visiting the Kumbh Mela.

The special focus has been given in creating relevant facilities in and around Nasik and Trambakeshwar for the convenience of the travelling public.  The measures and facilities undertaken by the Railway administration include additional counters for ticketing and enquiry, new Foot Over Bridges several special trains, extra coaches in popular trains, revamping of platforms and waiting halls, new enclosures with water taps and toilets, additional deployment of security, CCTV monitoring, medical facilities, deployment of additional staff, effective mechanism for crowd management, facilities for drinking water and catering, effective public information system and officers’ committees for monitoring and supervision.
