C Viswanath elected on CAPAM Board of Directors

An Indian delegation led by the Secretary, DARPG Shri C Viswanath visited Malaysia from August 17-20, 2016 to attend the Meeting of General Members of Commonwealth Association for Public Administration & Management (CAPAM) & CAPAM Biennial Conference at Putrajaya.

Shri C. Viswanath was elected on Board of Directors of CAPAM. DARPG is an institutional member of Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) since 1997. CAPAM is an international network of senior public servants, Heads of Governments, academics and researchers from over 50 Commonwealth countries.

The International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy was held during 16th-18th August, 2016, at Kuala Lumpur which was attended by four Officers from different Departments. Further a meeting of CAPAM Biennial Conference was held during 18th – 20th August, 2016 in Putrajaya Malaysia.

In the Conference, Shri C. Viswanath speaking in the session on ‘Innovations as Strategic Imperative for the Organisation’ elaborated on the steps taken by the Government of India to introduce reforms in Governance and make the Public Service Delivery System user- friendly. He also informed the conference about the measures taken by the Government to reward best initiatives, their adaptability and replications, measures to motivate all districts in India to participate in Prime Minister’s Awards Scheme by doing their best in implementation of Priority Programmes, introduction of e-Governance in India, Documentation and Dissemination of Good Governance Practices etc.

During the conference, the CAPAM awards were given to the best initiatives. Out of 12 best initiatives shortlisted by the CAPAM, 6 initiatives pertained to Government of India. Out of 6 initiatives, 3 initiatives were given CAPAM awards. The names of the initiatives which were given CAPAM awards are as under:-

i) Lado (Beloved Child) Campaign
ii) Scaling-Up Cervical Cancer Screening
iii) Revival of Sasur Khaderi Rivulet & Lake Thithora

There were 4 categories of awards, of which India got CAPAM awards in 3 initiatives. India has also been awarded Gold medal for the initiative, namely, “Scaling-Up Cervical Cancer Screening”, at the conference.
