PSUs under Ministry of Steel have succeeded in ensuring that their employees are not distracted and prevented from coming to work on the day of All India General Strike (nationwide general strike), a 24 hour bandh called for 02 September, 2016. This has been made possible owing to employees’ concern and belongingness for their organizations. The management of these PSUs took several proactive steps and real time monitoring of the situation to support the workers.

Steel Minister Shri Birender Singh has congratulated the employees for their commitment and dedication to work. Challenging times call for united efforts and the steel workers have demonstrated that their first priority is work and service to the employer and the nation, he added. Shri Singh has urged the employees to continue working with the same spirit and enthusiasm in the times to come. While reviewing the situation in discussions with the PSU’s top brass, the Minister highlighted the recent measures taken by the central government for the welfare of workers and worker unions. These include raising minimum wages, ensuring strict compliance of labour laws and registration of trade union in 45 days.

SAIL, the leading steel producer in the country, with more than 80,000 employees in different parts of the country registered overall attendance of 94 per cent.
