Smt. Aruna Sundararajan IAS (Kerala 1982) presently Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has been given Additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Telecommunications .
Ms. Aruna Sundararajan, IAS, serves as Managing Director of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. Ms. Sundararajan served as Government Director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. from July 29, 2015 to October 21, 2015. CMD BBNL (Bharat Broadband Network Ltd) heading the National Optic Fibre Network Project is NOFN under the `Digital India’ Program. As Administrator USOF, Ms. Sundararajan is the custodian of the telecom fund to provide rural telecom access to unserved areas of the sub-continent. Ms. Sundarajan also heads Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL) (the SPV) established for overseeing India’s rural high-speed broadband project which aims to provide access to 600 million Indians under the “Digital India” Programme.
Ms. Sundararajan served as a Non Executive Independent Director of Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services Limited from January 14, 2014 to December 12, 2014. She has, in her distinguished career held various important positions such as, Private Secretary of the Power Department of Kerala and Vice President of Kudumbasree, Kerala. During her term as Vice President of Kudumbasree, Ms. Sundararajan was known for her pioneering work in mass e-literacy in Kerala through Akshaya programme. She is Senior Member of the Indian Administrative Services, India’s premier civil service, with over 32 years of experience in the national and federal governments. She holds a Masters in Philosophy .
