Arnab Roy appointed as Deputy Chairman- Tea Board

Shri Arnab Roy IAS (West Bengal  1991) has appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Tea Board of India for two years said a notification issued by the Government of India’s Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

The notification states that the post of the Deputy Chairman of the Tea Board has been upgraded to the level of the Joint Secretary (Non-CSS) of the Union Government. The Tea Board of India is placed under the Department of Commerce of the Union Government.

It needs mention here that the Deputy Chairman is now the executive head of the Tea Board. Earlier, the Chairman used to be the executive head of the Tea Board. But the Union Government amended the Tea Rules, 1954, through a Gazette notification on October 26, 2016 making the Deputy Chairman the executive head of the Tea Board.
