AP Government to invest Rs 12,000 cr.s. in IT and Rs 30,000 cr.s. in Electronics sector in coming 6 years (by 2020): Focus on Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Anantapuram

Andhra Pradesh government aims to attract investments of Rs 12,000 crore in the IT sector and Rs 30,000 crore in the Electronics sector by 2020. State expects to generate 5 Lakh jobs and create “at least 1 IT literate person per family”, besides an IT entrepreneur.

Whilst, Visakhapatnam would be the main hub for IT development, Kakinada, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Anantapuram would also lead the growth in this sector. An IT incubation centre would be opened in Visakhapatnam by October. Wipro has already readied its expansion plans in Visakhapatnam to create additional employment for 7,000 youths.

The IT&C (Information Technology and Communication) department of AP Govt. is lead by Mr. Sanjay Jaju-Secretary. He is an IAS officer of 1992 AP cadre.
