Anil Kumar Agarwal is the new Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs

Anil Kumar Agarwal, IAS (WB1981) appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs. Prior to this appointment he was DG-ESIC.

Shri Anil Kumar Agarwal is B.Tech from IIT Kanpur and has done his PG Diploma from IIM Bangalore. Started his Indian bureaucracy career in 1982 as Assistant  Magistrate of Murshidabad, he has vast experience as  S D O of Alipurduar (1983-85), District Magistrate  of Malda (1989-90), Joint Secretary in Labour Department(1992-93), Principal Secretary  in Technical Education & Training Department(2009-10). Additional Chief Secretary in Animal Resources Development Department of West Bengal (2011-12).

He has served in Central Cadre as Director in Ministry of Environment & Forests (1995-98),  Joint Secretary in Ministry of Agriculture Department of Agriculture & Cooperation(2002-07), Director General in Ministry of Labour & Employment Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) ,New Delhi (2012-2014).

He takes charge from Mr. Sunil Soni, IAS-MH1981, who is now appointed as Secretary, Inter State Council Secretariat under MHA as Mr. Hara Krushna Das, IAS-GJ1980 retired from this post.
