Auto Expo 2016 was inaugurated at the India Expo Mart Limited by Shri Anant Geete, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways. The program took place in the presence of Shri Sumit Mazumder, President, CII, Shri Yong Geun Kim, President, OICA,  Shri Arvind Balaji, President, ACMA, Shri Vinod Dasari, President, SIAM, Shri Chandrajit Banerjee, Director, CII, and Shri Rama Raman, CEO, NOIDA and Greater NOIDA authority.

Shri Anant Geete, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, said that the Government is and has always been pro-industry. He said that the Make in India campaign has been a huge success and has increased the possibilities for the industry in the country. He said that India is worth investing in and assured that the investments are eventually going to pay off for the investors. He further said that the growth of the show signifies the growth of the industry.

Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highway, said that the government wants the industry to adopt innovative measures so that the progress can be ramped up. He said that the industry has grown in leaps and bounds and would be doing well in the future as well with the cooperation from the government.

The Indian automotive sector is an exemplar of engineering and entrepreneurship. It has converged with the global auto industry within a short time. We need to now move to the next level. Focus on research and development, design, emissions and efficiency, and new product innovation is important. With its large cohort of talented engineers and knowledge workers, India has high potential in the global automotive sector observed Mr Sumit Mazumder, President, Confederation of Indian Industry while addressing the Inaugural Session.

Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII while delivering the concluding remarks  said that today, as we complete three exciting decades since the first Auto Expo in 1986, we can truly be proud of India’s automotive industry. Through exemplary guidance and innovative initiatives from Government as well as the drive and energy of our entrepreneurs, the automotive sector of the country has emerged as a global force, capturing markets everywhere and captivating consumers.

The Make in India initiative has set a new environment for growth of the sector. Coupled with the policies for Ease of Doing Business, industrial parks and innovation, Make in India promises to converge all forces for global expansion of India’s automotive sector.
